Our Story
A Reason for Chocolate was founded by
Armitage Academy,
an independent primary school located in the small southeastern Wisconsin
town of Kenosha. Its purpose is to provide funds for children to directly
effect change in the global community. A Reason for Chocolate enables students in kindergarten
to 8th grade to engage in service activities and support organizations
working toward making the world a better place. Students are empowered
to become leaders for positive change in their school, community and
the world.
Fifty percent of profits from A Reason for Chocolate
go toward fulfilling student-inspired projects. These have included
such activities as food and clothing drives for homeless shelters; supporting
a “Meals on Wheels” program for elderly; teaching French to preschoolers
in a Headstart program; providing books for a school in Nicaragua; collecting
children’s books for a rural school library in Kenya; and supporting
the preservation of Rainforests and Komodo dragons. In purchasing our
product, you too are helping to contribute to positive global change.
“One small voice can make a huge and permanent difference, even
if that voice is a child’s.”

founded by Ryan Hreljac, who at age 6 began raising funds for developing
countries)
